Gilli Moon Brings “The Light” from “Beautiful Mess Vol. 2”
Gilli Moon is dropping Part 2 of what she describes as an aural binge-listening experience. “Beautiful Mess Vol. 2” drops today and there is a perfect Parent With Angst Song all about her indoctrination into parenthood with twins.
Gilli has an incredible voice that shines beautifully in “The Light” and it’s just what all mamas need during this pandemic.
It’s an empowerment anthem.
Here are the opening lyrics:
It’s a lot. I'm barely hanging on
Like a thread I forget where I am from
But I keep going for the sakes of you
I couldn't imagine a life without you
My eyes close in toil and tear
I watch you sleep, and I sit near
I fear this is all it's to be
I created you, but have I lost me?
We asked Gilli to reflect on the song as it pertains to motherhood:
“The song emanated from my struggle with being a mom when my twins were first born. The intense focus and lack of sleep combined whoa the intense love for having giving life to these beautiful souls. And so it’s an empowering moment to own the struggle as well as the love, and know that everything will be OK. Indeed, it’s all about hope and strength. “
And we asked her to go deeper and tell us how this song also is inspiring for these isolating times which is how it resonated for us.
“We live in unprecedented times. Our world has gone through trauma. This song shares emotions around how we struggle to cope, to deal with this, but always I think of The Light to keep me going. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope.”
