Sahffi Lynne Debuts Their Stunning Music Video for the Acoustic Folk Single “Let the Healing Begin”

Sahffi Lynne (she/they) is a medicine musician and vocal coach, offering their music, meditations, ceremonies, and teachings as medicine to illuminate our connection. Musically speaking, Sahffi takes inspiration from sounds all around the globe, from Peru to Zimbabwe. They’re just as impressive as a private vocal coach by teaching those interested in deepening their relationship with their voice using their own "Vocal Ladder.”

You may be asking, “what’s a vocal ladder?”

Well, according to Sahffi, it’s a method of singing using your body as an instrument to find your authentic expression. Each ring of the Vocal Ladder aligns with one of the 7-main chakras in the body where you uncover and discover how singing can heal our emotional bodies as well. “When we align our physical body with our emotional body, we reach the top of the ladder of the full expression of our voice,” says Sahffi.”

Sahffi is actually classically trained with the French Horn at The Juilliard School of Music. She had worked hard her whole life to get to that level, but soon was confused and sad to discover that she was extremely unhappy. “Music became competitive and no longer the fun, collaborative experience I always enjoyed,” they share. “I was very confused as to why I was so unhappy because I knew I wanted to be a musician since I was 5 years old.” And that was it. She quite grad school and the French Horn and landed a position as a music therapist for mentally handicapped adults.

Seeing how music effected this group, making them smile and filling them with utter joy filled Sahffi up and that’s when she realized that music was starting to look like how she always imagined it to be. She then made a brief stint with a rock band in hopes of finding the traditional music path.

It wasn’t until landing in Peru in 2015, however, that all her experiences, traumas, and the musical journey started colliding and making complete sense. “I had journeyed from classical music, to rock and roll, to folk, to house music, to being a singer/songwriter, and now I found myself being called by plant medicine to offer music as medicine. Now at 50 years old, I can see my life’s journey has been a clear path to lead me to this moment in my life. I learned how to offer music as prayer through classical music; I have learned how music heals through my work as a music therapist; I have learned how to sustain myself as an artist through the day jobs I had as a younger person; and I have healed through the practices of meditation, breathwork, singing, yoga, music, and plant medicines, to heal my mind, body, and soul.”

This leads us into their newest video for their acoustic folk single “Let the Healing Begin.” The song was released in 2021 as part of their album, Pulse of Evolution. It’s emotionally heavy, yet musically light. The combination of the two elements reveals a deep sense of inner peace and love. It emulates the world around you being consistently moving while your grief and pain feels stagnant.

The video is, dare I say, utter catharsis. The song is about healing after pain and letting go of the grief. The video depicts the use of art and creativity as a process to let the healing begin. Sahffi is writing music, a person is dancing, and another is painting. Each express their emotions through their specific craft. It’s flowing through them like a river of emotional release.

The video expresses a joy that I haven’t experienced in a long time. I found that I was crying and releasing my own emotions along with those in the video. If you need to feel heard and seen, this video and song should absolutely be on your playlist/watchlist.

Their studio, “Vocalize Your Soul,” is open for in-person lessons at The Bohemian House in Ellicott City, Maryland. Sahffi also teaches voice lessons all over the world using the Zoom platform.
