Paul Hashemi of Faint Halos shares his latest single “Skyline Hill”

Originally conceived as the solo endeavor of seasoned musician Paul Hashemi, Faint Halos was a quest to re-define the music genre of “dad rock.”

Now with two new single releases reaching more than 25,000 Spotify streams alone, singer-songwriter Paul Hashemi is set to release his upcoming album “I can see a million lights” in August 2024.

The most recent single, “Skyline Hill” captures the peacefulness of a summer evening at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia. Hashemi was inspired by observing the city from afar, noting how Philadelphia’s small, familial places contrast with the vast unified views.

The song features a simple arrangement with acoustic and electric guitars, keys, bass, drums, and vocals. Paul uses an innovative technique on the lead guitar using an eBow to create a unique fluttering sound.

“Skyline Hill” was recorded, produced, and mixed in Hashemi’s home studio in Berwyn, PA, with additional vocal recordings done in North Carolina. As one of the first pieces written for the new album, it stands out for its airy, minimalist arrangement and haunting guitar melodies.

Faint Halos’ preceding single release “Something To Lose” was also recorded and mastered in Paul’s home studio, with his daughter Cate joining in too on the vocals. Cate lended beautiful vocal harmonies which bring a bright sound to the track.

Paul Hashemi’s musical journey includes classical training, touring with rock bands in the ’90s, and a hiatus to focus on career and family. The pandemic reignited his creativity, leading to the formation of Faint Halos and the creation of “I can see a million lights, a debut album which explores introspective themes with poignant lyrics and dynamic arrangements.

Paul is a talented multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer and is very much influenced by a formal classical training in classical piano, viola and violin. He draws influences from the energetic 1990s music scene during which time he toured extensively with rock bands along the East Coast.
