Rising artist John Turner, also known as Jusme Da One, is exploding on the Hip Hop and Inspirational music scene with his newest release, “Aspire To Greatness” from his forthcoming debut album that will land on streaming platforms later this year. What caught our eye about this particular artist is not only his rhythm, his natural ability for motivating others, or his innate musical talents, but his passion for fatherhood and being a role model that the younger generation can look up to.
John Turner is a musician by day, and a father by night, single handedly raising his incredibly talent daughter Zoey, who just so happens to have gotten the music gene as well (no surprise there). Zoey is an incredibly bright vocalist, and is working side by side with her father on her debut record, supporting her every step of the way.
Turner has made it clear that his goal in life is to show Zoey (and his supporters) that they can do anything they put their mind to, they just simply have to keep pushing. “Aspire To Greatness” is Jusme Da One’s first attempt at proving that. This track is vulnerable song about his own journey of finding greatness within himself. While he knew it was there, he didn’t realize it initially. He shares that “the writing process was a challenge because of the personal content that I share throughout the song. Writing this song made me feel very vulnerable.”
With a beat reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar and vocals unlike any artist we have ever heard, this song is all about strength, empowerment, and perspective. The use of the keys, horns and overall cadence fits the lyrical genius perfectly. “The message that I wanted to convey with this song is that no matter what you've been through, greatness is within each of us,” says Jusme Da One.
