A native of Zion National Park, Utah, singer-songwriter Dave Tate is here with his new album “The Adventure,’ released October 8th. In this album, Tate’s soulful and mellow vocals take us on a journey about the uncertainty of life, the good and the bad, and how to trust oneself throughout all of the trials and tribulations. The result is the album “The Adventure,” which explores these themes with a heady genre of acoustic rock, alternative music, and contemporary music. The land where Tate grew up, a red rock desert filled with beauty and mystery, inspires his musical sound: heavenly, beautiful, dark, and mysterious all at the same time.  “The journey of exploring the inner world and the outer world is the inspiration for The Adventure,” says Dave. “I live in a Zion National Park, where outer adventure is available everywhere. But it’s the inner growth, confidence and trust that we take from those experiences that is the real reward. The Adventure is about that outer and inner journey.”

While Tate has already brought out nine previous albums, The Adventure is really the first to broaden out from solo songwriter to a more percussive style. While elements of the album harken back to Tate’s signature introspective mellow-vibe folk style, the Adventure is unafraid to revive Tate’s 90’s roots of acoustic rock, adult contemporary and jazz fusion elements. A highly syncopated rhythm section, unique percussive guitar, and Tate’s soaring, powerful voice lift his acoustic rock style jumping boldly off to The Adventure. “Many of the basic tracks for this album took place years ago while I was performing in Salt Lake City with the excellent musicians on this album,” says Dave. “I slowly whittled away at them as I grew as an artist. Most of my music leans more towards a mellow singer/songwriter vibe, but this syncopated, rhythmically driven type of music is an important element and represents a connection to my earlier influences like Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Paul Simon and Jeff Buckley.”

When living in Salt Lake City, Tate met Swedish singer-songwriter Victoria Lagerström, a former Ms. Sweden, who came to the US from Stockholm to write and record with Tate. The couple soon fell in love and, three weeks after her arrival were married among the red rock cliffs of Zion. Lagerström never used her return ticket to Sweden. The couple now often performs as a duo, or with a full band under the name Many Miles. He has toured across the western US and in Europe on numerous occasions and his work was recently featured in a global on-flight commercial on all American Airlines international flights. Tate regularly performs 150+ shows per year and is currently performing in residency at Under Canvas Zion and The Cliffrose Lodge, Hilton Curio Hotel in Zion Canyon. A multi-instrumentalist, Tate records and produces his albums at his own studio in Zion Canyon. Tate’s music is inspired by an avid love for the natural world and he can often be found exploring the vast horizons of the American West.
