The Parenting Playlist: Songs for Parenting Wins

Since the pandemic, my life has not really looked the same. Sometimes that’s a good thing and other times I wish things were the same as they once were. What has changed significantly is taking the little wins as a parent. I used to dwell on the things I was doing wrong, but now, when I get my kids to eat the green stuff, even a little bit, gives me such a boost. This weeks list is songs that I listen to when I need to feel like a good parent and when I feel like I have been a good parent.

  1. Tina Turner - “The Best”

I’m simply the best, better than all the rest.

2. Smash Mouth - “All Star”

All that glitters is gold. Only shooting stars break the mold

3. Journey - “Don’t Stop Believin’”

Always a good reminder to “don’t stop believin’” and to “hold onto that feelin’”

4. MC Hammer - “U Can’t Touch This”

I mean, getting my kids to go to bed on time? You can’t touch this.

5. The Script - “Hall of Fame”

This is a great song whose anthem-like sound really builds on that confidence level.

6. Alicia Keys - “Girl On Fire”

Alicia Keys always makes me feel strong and confident, especially when I get my kids ready for school on time.

7. Sia - “Unstoppable”

As a mother, I’m unstoppable.

8. McFadden and Whitehead - “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now”

For when my family’s routine is running smoothly.

9. Survivor - “Eye of the Tiger”

I can tackle any parenting problem or obstacle when I think about this song…

10. DJ Khalid - “All I Do Is Win”

“All I do is win, no matter what” has become my mantra as a mom recently.
