Real Stormin Norman’s Newest Album is a Jazzy Harkening to the Sounds of New Orleans
It’s a new year, which means we are ready for some new music. If you were an active part of the New York City music scene in the 1970’s, may have heard, seen, or read about Stormin Norman and Suzy, who was praised by the New York Times as New York Times as the "hottest act in town." While Noman Zamcheck, the writer and pianist for Real Stormin Norman, not actually from New Orleans or New York, the two cities that have inspired his sound and style, they are integral to who Norman has become as a musician.
Real Stormin Norman is Norman Zamcheck’s newest jazz orchestration band, led by himself with vocals provided by the extremely talented Genevieve Faivre. They recently released their newest album, Euphoria, a 6 song album that covers all the sounds and elements that have made Norman the musical genius and composer he is today with varied genres, all piano based, of blues, jazz, Latin, New Orleans lounge jazz.
Each song on Euphoria brings their own style and story. We get “Spring in New Orleans” which is an ode to the city. Norman utilizes the sounds of New Orleans jazz in this song and dives into the story with the music. You know immediately the soundscape he presents. “Butterflies” is a song about passion and love with sounds of blues infused jazz. He also gives us a glimpse of rock and roll with the song “Queen of the Rosebuds.” His diverse sounds with a jazz base is extraordinary and exactly what we need.
